The Biggest Challenge of CA Students

This Topic First Appeared on Quora

Students ask me this question all the time. What presents the greatest difficulty to a student of law? I used to reply, grinning, “CA is a challenge in and of itself.” The CA is a challenging program from the CA Foundation to the CA Final.

The extensive syllabus, in-depth knowledge of every subject, length of the course, and of course, the inevitable facepalm moments that every CA student must endure while finishing this course are the things that make the CA course difficult.

However, it makes no difference how long it takes you to finish this course. Nobody will ask you how many tries it took to become a chartered accountant once you become one.

Easy Entrance

CA is not like Medical and Engineering courses where once you get cleared in the entrance test, surely you will get the MBBS or B.Tech degree. Everybody knows that entry in CA is far easy as a comparison to clear the whole course.

The whole syllabus of Chartered Accountancy is divided into four parts –

  1. CA Foundation
  2. CA Intermediate
  3. 3 Years of CA Articleship
  4. CA Final

The CA Foundation entrance exam has superseded the CPT in the Chartered Accountancy program. There are four subjects in the CA Foundation syllabus: two are objective and two are subjective. The fundamental knowledge you have acquired in your senior school classes is tested on the CA Foundation entrance exam. The typical range for the CA Foundation entrance exam result is 30%–35%.

First Challenge – CA Intermediate

After passing the admission exam, which has superseded the CA IPCC, students must appear in CA Intermediate to begin the challenge. Eight subjects and two groups make up the CA Intermediate curriculum in its entirety. This level assesses your IQ, which is essential to becoming a Certified Adviser.

The CA IPCC result typically ranges between 10%.10% is from that 30% who cleared CPT.

The majority of students must make multiple attempts to pass the CA IPCC.

Second Challenge – Articleship Training

Following successful completion of one or both CA Intermediate groups, students can register for a three-year articleship program, which marks their entry into the real world for CA students.

He must overcome all of these obstacles in order to prepare for his future as a CA. Although ICAI and some others refer to the articleship term as the “golden period,” I believe that this is the most difficult phase during which CA students must work hard. A CA student must labor during this period for a stipend that is less than the office boy’s pay. The more you sacrifice during your training, the easier it will be for you to become a certified advisor.

I have also seen some students pursuing dummy articleship but trust me this is the biggest mistake for which they’ll have to regret. Doesn’t matter how many attempts you take to complete this course but once you become Chartered Accountant, nobody would dare to say “You don’t deserve to be a Chartered Accountant”.

Biggest Challenge of CA Final

You will have to face the largest difficulty of this course, where all five years of hard work and patience put in the CA Course, after 2.5 years of perseverance and hard effort. Your IQ is put to the test in the last level. The expectations are high for knowledge, memory, diligence, and full-fledged chartered accountancy. It also assesses the knowledge you have acquired by exposure to real-world employment.

After completing 2.5 years of articleship training and passing both CA IPCC and CA Intermediate groups, students are eligible to appear at the Final level. The CA Final result typically ranges from 8% to 10%. At this level, 80% of pupils receive three or more tries.

It’s not that they don’t study hard; rather, it’s that they become distracted from their studies. An articleship tenure of three years is sufficient to divert any student from their studies. Applicants used to show greater interest in their jobs than in their education. Furthermore, covering the full CA Final material in just six months of preparatory leave is scarcely impossible.

The best way to solve this issue is to study consistently during your articleship. The majority of students used to berate us for not having enough time from the office and asking how we could balance our education with work. So keep in mind that you choose California—it does not select you. You must put in a lot of effort to reach your objective. Being a chartered accountant is your dream—your parents’ desire, not anyone else’s—so you must learn time management skills. So, take a chance.
